SPAN’s ESG Conference aims to unite water industry players and explore options in steering the industry towards forward-thinking strategies targeting at amplifying Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) within the industry. In line with the ASIAWATER 2024 theme on ‘Water Transformation and Climate Change: Innovation for Resilience’ which underscores the importance of tackling climate change challenges and seeking innovative solutions, for a resilient, sustainable, and dynamic water sector. ESG being a multi-faceted pursuit that spans a variety of metrics and indicators is not seen as an easy road within the water services industry in Malaysia. The enablers and challenges faced by the water and wastewater operators are more geo-specific, involving local sources and conditions, and variable in terms of geography, weather, and users. ESG is a transformative development for the water services industry, which means it requires a transformation in decision-making as well. Therefore, this conference aims to gather industry experts to share knowledge and experience and deliberate on the important aspects of ESG as well as discuss the actions needed within the industry.
